An internship with the Chattahoochee River Conservancy provides exposure to the important work of protecting and preserving our watershed. These opportunities are a mix of office and field work. Please note these positions are unpaid volunteer positions, and school credit is available if offered by your learning institution. Available Internship Positions and Job Descriptions
Community Outreach Assistant - (2-3 interns) • Attend, set up, and staff outreach booths at community events in areas served by the CRC • Increase public awareness of the Chattahoochee River and its importance to the people who live near the watershed • Educate the public on the CRC’s mission, current projects, and volunteer opportunities • Encourage environmental stewardship through personal actions and community service • Represent the Chattahoochee River Conservancy in a professional manner • Communicate with volunteers via email • Recruit volunteers through social media postings, flyers distribution, public events, and more • Prepare, pack, and unload supplies before and after events
Watershed Service Coordinator - (4 interns) • Hike off-trail to perform field surveys and site assessments within the Chattahoochee River watershed • Plan, organize, and lead clean up projects • Communicate with volunteers via email for assistance with cleanup projects • Participate in clean up events by picking up trash, packing trash bags, and hauling bags away to designated drop off site • Maintenance and organization of program related tools and supplies • Photo documentation of clean up project progress and volunteer engagement
Ecosystem Restoration Assistant - (2-3 interns) • Perform field surveys and site assessments of the Chattahoochee River watershed • Photo documentation of site and volunteer work • Participate in planting projects including digging in rocks and soil, and proper handling procedures for seeds and plants • Transportation will sometimes be via raft along the whitewater course • Participate in managing invasive species including digging, hand pulling, cutting and hauling away plants • Communicate with and coordinate volunteer assistance for relevant projects • Manage and maintain program related tools and supplies • Assist in de-potting and retrieval of plant seeds
Water Quality Field Assistant - (2-3 interns) • Maintain standards of quality assurance and control • Assist in water quality sampling by pulling water samples from both boat and shoreline • Gather, prepare, and maintain equipment for water testing • Communicate with and manage volunteers via email • Assist with processing water samples in lab • Read water sample results, record results using standard procedures, and publish results on social media
Graphic Design Assistant - (1 intern) • Design and layout graphic communication pieces including direct mail, flyers, posters, reports, website elements, and social media posts • Assist with designing graphics for special events • Assist with designing merchandise
